Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know
We've compiled answers to the most common questions about our wedding day. If you can't find what you're looking for, please don't hesitate to reach out!
Ceremony & Schedule
What time should I arrive?
+
Please arrive from 12:15 PM to find your seat. The ceremony will begin promptly at 1:00 PM.
Will the ceremony be indoors or outdoors?
+
The ceremony will take place indoors in the beautiful St Peters Church, nestled within the grounds of Firle Place. Due to the walk from the car park, we advise bringing an umbrella in case of rain.
We kindly ask that you arrive via the main Firle Place entrance rather than through the village, as the village lanes are very small and can't accommodate extra traffic. When you follow the Google Maps link, you'll come to a white gated entrance. Drive through and continue along the track until you reach the manor house, where you're welcome to park or be dropped off. From there, it's a gentle five‑minute stroll across gravel and grass to the church.

What time does the reception end?
+
Carriages will be from 11:30 PM, bring your dancing shoes!
Dress Code & Attire
What is the dress code?
+
Formal wedding attire with a touch of garden‑party charm. Please note there's a short walk over gravel and grass, so choose shoes that can join the adventure!
Guests & Plus Ones
Can I bring a plus one?
+
Due to venue capacity, we're only able to accommodate guests specifically named on your invitation. If you received a plus one, their name will be listed. Please check your invitation or contact us if you're unsure.
Are children welcome?
+
We love your little ones, but we've decided to make this an adults-only celebration to allow all our guests to relax and enjoy the evening. We hope this gives you a wonderful excuse for a night out!
What's the difference between day and evening guests?
+
Day guests are invited to the ceremony, reception dinner, and evening celebrations. Evening guests are invited to join us from 7:00 PM onwards for cocktails, dancing, and wonderful evening food! Your invitation will specify which you're invited to.
Travel & Accommodation
Where should I stay?
+
Please see our Accommodation page for recommendations.
Is there parking at the venue?
+
Yes, there is parking available at Firle Place. Your car can be left overnight and collected by 11am the following morning.
Will there be transportation provided?
+
Thankfully, both our ceremony and reception take place within the grounds of Firle Place, so once you arrive, you won't need to travel anywhere else throughout the day.
For guests staying at the Alfriston South Downs Hotel, we will have taxis lined up to whisk you to and from the wedding. You can simply pay your driver on the day.
If you're staying elsewhere, we recommend pre‑booking a taxi or arranging shared transport with other guests. Firle is wonderfully rural and charming, but not exactly Uber‑friendly, so securing transport in advance will save any stress on the day.

Food & Drink
I have dietary restrictions. What should I do?
+
Please let us know about any dietary requirements, allergies, or preferences when you RSVP. We'll make sure there are delicious options for everyone!
Will there be a vegetarian/vegan option?
+
Absolutely! Please enter on the RSVP if you have specific dietary requirements and we will ensure this is accomodated for.
Photos & Social Media
Can I take photos during the ceremony?
+
We kindly request an unplugged ceremony - please put away phones and cameras during the ceremony itself so you can be fully present. Our professional photographer will capture all the special moments. Feel free to snap away during the reception!
Can I post photos on social media?
+
We'd love for you to share your photos, and we will be creating a QR code to upload photos taken on the day, so we can have the joy of looking back on them.
Registry & Gifts
Do you have a gift registry?
+
Having you with us on our wedding day is all we could ever wish for. If you'd like to help us begin our first adventure as husband and wife, a small contribution would mean the world. Visit our Registry page for more details.
Weather & Contingencies
What happens if it rains?
+
Firle Place has beautiful indoor spaces that are equally stunning! We're keeping our fingers crossed for sunshine, but we're prepared for any weather. There will be a couple of short strolls between the ceremony, welcome drinks and wedding breakfast, so please bring an umbrella.
What's the weather typically like in September?
+
September in East Sussex is usually lovely, expect temperatures around 15-20°C with a mix of sun and clouds. We recommend bringing a light jacket or cardigan for the evening, just in case!
